Three products, a little definition, and makeup that works just as well for a morning at home as it does for a day of meetings.
I’ve always preferred makeup that makes me look like myself, only a little more polished. I want my skin to look like skin, my eyes to have some definition, and just enough color on my lips and cheeks to make everything feel finished.
Most mornings, I’m not interested in spending half an hour getting ready. Between running my businesses, taking meetings, working on editorial projects, and everything else that comes with a full schedule, I appreciate products that are easy to use and don’t require much thought.
Lately, I’ve been using three products from Lotus Beauty Co. for my everyday look: the Hydrating Liquid Foundation, Mechanical Eyeliner Pencil in Cashmere, and Dual Lip + Cheek Mirrored Palette in Dahlia Rosa.
The result is understated, feminine, and polished without looking overly made up.
A More Natural-Looking Complexion
I start with foundation because I prefer an even complexion without a heavy finish.
Lotus Beauty’s Hydrating Liquid Foundation provides lightweight, buildable coverage while softening the appearance of uneven skin tone. The formula is also developed with hydration and skin comfort in mind.
For everyday makeup, I think the goal should be to even things out rather than conceal every bit of natural texture. I still want my skin to have dimension and look like my own.
What appeals to me about this foundation is its approach to coverage. It fits the kind of makeup I gravitate toward: something that looks appropriate in natural daylight and doesn’t feel like an elaborate production.

Soft Definition Around the Eyes
I wear glasses regularly, so eye definition matters a lot to me. Without a little contrast, my makeup can get lost behind my frames.
For this look, I used the Lotus Beauty Mechanical Eyeliner Pencil in Cashmere, a soft brown shade that defines the eyes without the intensity of traditional black liner.
Brown eyeliner has become one of my favorite ways to make everyday makeup look more refined. It adds depth around the lashes but feels softer, particularly during the day.
The Cashmere pencil has a creamy, retractable formula that glides along the lash line, and it includes a blending tool to soften the edges.
I like the idea of a defined eye that doesn’t look too precise or dramatic. With my blackish/brown glasses, the brown provides just enough contrast to make my eyes stand out without competing with the frames.
It’s the sort of detail that makes a relatively simple makeup look feel intentional.

One Color for Lips and Cheeks
The finishing touch is the Lotus Beauty Dual Lip + Cheek Mirrored Palette in Dahlia Rosa.
I used the color on my lips and applied it very lightly to my cheeks. I wanted the lips to have a little more presence, with just a subtle wash of coordinating color on the face.
I’ve always liked the effect of using similar tones on the lips and cheeks. It creates a cohesive look without requiring several different products or a complicated application technique.
The palette contains two complementary cream finishes, a soft matte and a luminous pearl, which can be worn separately or layered.
For this everyday look, the Dahlia Rosa color gives my lips a soft rosy finish, while the lighter application on my cheeks adds warmth without looking like obvious blush.
It’s a small detail, but it brings the entire look together.

Why I’m Paying Attention to Lotus Beauty
Beyond the makeup itself, Lotus Beauty has an interesting point of difference.
The company develops cosmetics and skincare with particular attention to sensitive skin, including skin affected by cancer treatment. Its formulas are developed with input from oncology and dermatology experts, and the brand emphasizes ingredients and textures intended to support comfort.
I think something is compelling about a beauty company that approaches makeup through that lens.
Beauty products should feel good to wear, and applying them should be enjoyable. That’s a consideration that matters well beyond the audience a brand originally set out to serve.
The products in this edit also happen to fit into a simple, everyday routine, which is what initially interested me.
The Finished Look
What I like most about this combination is that nothing feels excessive.
The foundation creates a more even-looking complexion. The Cashmere eyeliner adds softness and definition around my eyes. And Dahlia Rosa brings a little color to my lips and cheeks.
It’s the kind of makeup I can wear while working from home, heading to a meeting, recording content, or going out for lunch. I don’t need to change everything depending on what the day looks like.
I’ve become increasingly selective about the products I use, and I find myself returning to the same idea: a good everyday makeup routine doesn’t need to be complicated.
Sometimes a few thoughtfully chosen products are enough.
